River numero 2

This is my second River. Checkout the knitalong at Savannahchik knits to see everyone else’s lovely work. This isn’t the best shot but I’m in a hurry to get somewhere warm!

Back up the river

River - beaded knot

Have started my second River in black KSH. I couldn’t wait until I’d finished it to make the beaded knot, so here she is. Have only done about 30 odd rows, so not much to show yet. Better get back to making Mapman’s hat……supposed to finish it for tomorrow. Hmmm.

River is finished

River finito

All done and very fluffy and soft.

Madison almost finished

There was ALOT of swearing and finger pricking happening yesterday with this. I will be very glad to finish it. It’s the most fiddly bit of sewing I’ve done in yonks. I will do things very differently next time I make this bag. It’s a fabulous shape but I’ve ended up having to topstitch the edge of the exterior then do the same to the lining because the bag is too stiff to sew them together on the machine. There was some blood shed when I sewed the flower on the front and I wished I’d added another petal. I know odd numbers look better but it seems to want to fill out a bit more. All that needs to be done is slipstitch the lining on when I’m feeling patient! But not today folks! :-)

Multi-directional scarf

Also done, this may become a Christmas present………

River is blocking

Finished River last night at midnight! It’s now blocking on the bed. It turned out that I needed to start a 5th ball for four rows! Thank goodness I had it handy. I’m not enamoured with the colour of it. It looks better in shots than it does in reality. DH doesn’t like it and he always likes things I make. He’s not keen on mohair fullstop, I think. Anyhoo, it was a very easy knit once you got into the swing of the pattern. I only had to rip back the occasional row, mostly when I was engrossed in something on the tele. I used 8mm straights but could have used 10s or 12s to make it more airy-fairy. You only get to see the wavy pattern on certain angles and it is quite large. I think I’ll probably make another using KSH.

Rainy days

Loads of rain today but now we have glorious sunshine! Have been busy knitting and sewing today. Here’s my update on River, just over halfway and another sewing project I’ve had on the go but more tomorrow!

Floating along

I’m officially half way up the River! Woohoo! Not too bad as I’ve only really spent two evenings on it this week.

Along the River!

River is going ok but I’ve had to stop knitting for a couple of days due to ‘knitter’s elbow’! Anybody else get this? I reckon it started up again when I was crocheting the other week and further handsewing and mouse clicking has just made it worse. Anyway, enough whinging. I wonder if I should’ve used some 10mm needles rather than the 8mm’s. I’ve only got 8mm then 12mms. You can see the pattern from the shot but it’s quite tricky to spot otherwise. Oh well, I’ll just have to finish it and make another in KSH. I bought this mohair on sale in Lancashire 2 yrs ago and have been wondering what to do with it. My best tip for knitting with mohair is to have a lint roller handy!

Misty River

River,

Mist is coming along very slowly……found some mohair I’d bought 2 winters ago on sale and thought I’d see what it looked like for River. Not as nice as KSH but is knitting up alright. Decided on 8mm pins rather than the 7mms as it’s slightly thicker than KSH anyway. You can’t really see the pattern forming here….not a very good shot but will take another in a few days when I’ve done some more.

Cleaned up the tomatoes this afternoon and am hoping this will help them ripen. Have loads of green ones……but the weather has been so crap that I’m not expecting them to ripen in a hurry.
